Defining Campaign Goals

Set SMART goals for your campaign so you know exactly what success looks like.

Why Goals Determine Strategy

Every element of a marketing campaign — the channel, the message, the creative, the budget, and the metrics — flows from the campaign goal. A campaign designed to generate brand awareness looks completely different from one designed to generate sales. Defining your goal first prevents the common mistake of running tactics without a clear purpose.

Common Campaign Objectives

The three primary campaign objectives are awareness (reaching new audiences who do not yet know your brand), consideration (engaging interested people to learn more and evaluate your offer), and conversion (driving specific actions like purchases, sign-ups, or calls from people ready to buy). Each objective requires different channels, messages, and success metrics.
