Key Marketing Metrics Explained
Get a plain-language breakdown of the most important marketing performance indicators.
Vanity Metrics vs Actionable Metrics
Vanity metrics look impressive but do not directly connect to business outcomes — follower counts, total page views, and likes are common examples. Actionable metrics reveal whether your marketing is actually driving business results: conversion rate, cost per acquisition, and customer lifetime value are the numbers that determine whether marketing is profitable.
Reach and Impressions
Reach is the number of unique people who saw your content. Impressions is the total number of times your content was displayed, including multiple views by the same person. Impressions will always be equal to or greater than reach. Use reach to understand the size of your actual audience and impressions to gauge total exposure.
