Shopping Ads and Google Shopping

Set up and manage Google Shopping campaigns to capture high-intent purchase traffic.

How Google Shopping Works

Google Shopping ads (Product Listing Ads, or PLAs) appear at the top of search results pages when users search for products. Unlike text ads, Shopping ads display a product image, title, price, and store name, making them highly visual and purchase-intent driven.

The system is powered by three components: Google Merchant Center (where your product data lives), Google Ads (where campaigns are managed and bids are set), and the product feed (the structured data file that describes your inventory).

Creating a Google Merchant Center Account

Google Merchant Center is the hub where you upload and manage your product feed. To create an account, verify your business website domain, accept Merchant Center policies, and configure shipping and return settings to match your actual store policies.

Accurate shipping and return information in Merchant Center is critical because discrepancies between Merchant Center settings and your website checkout can lead to account suspension. Set up tax settings to comply with requirements in the countries where you sell.
