What Is Performance Max

Goal-based, cross-channel.

What Performance Max Really Is

Performance Max (PMax) is a single Google Ads campaign type that serves across every Google inventory: Search, Display, YouTube, Discover, Gmail, and Maps. One campaign, one budget, one optimization engine.

Instead of you choosing placements, Google's automation decides where, when, and to whom your ads show, using conversion goals as the steering signal.

The Channels Inside One Campaign

A single PMax campaign can appear as a text ad on Search, a video on YouTube, a banner on Display, and a product listing in Shopping, all from the same asset pool.

This is why creative diversity matters more than channel selection: you feed assets, Google assembles ad formats.

PMax inventory coverage:
  Search text + Shopping listings
  YouTube in-stream + in-feed video
  Display responsive banners
  Discover/Gmail native feed cards
  Maps local promotions
