Did you really ride three times this week?

A horse's care is a run of small dates and sessions that blur together: when the farrier last came, how hard last week's schooling was, which wormer went in when. A log kept in your pocket replaces a paper yard diary and answers those questions at the gate, even with no signal.

What it is

Horse Riding Log & Horse Care is a free Android app on Google Play that works as an equestrian logbook and horse care diary. You pick a horse and log a ride, schooling or care session with its type, duration and intensity, and the app turns that into a training load view that shows whether a week was light or heavy. It keeps vet, farrier, vaccination and deworming records with next-due reminders, feeding plans and a colour-coded stable calendar for all your horses, and an optional AI Horse Coach drafts a weekly training and care plan.

These are your own records and scheduling ideas, not veterinary advice. The app does not diagnose, and questions about a horse's health belong with your vet or farrier..

Background

What records are worth keeping for a horse?

The records worth keeping are the ones you would otherwise have to remember: when each horse was last shod, vaccinated and wormed, what it eats, and how much work it has done recently. Together they make the next decision easier, whether that is booking the farrier, bringing a horse back after a break or telling a new yard what the horse is used to. A record is only useful if it is quick enough to fill in at the stable.

Farrier and vet cyclethe gap between visits

Hooves are usually trimmed or reshod on a regular cycle, often every several weeks, though the right gap depends on the horse and your farrier's advice. Seeing the real interval between past visits is more reliable than guessing, and a reminder ahead of the date stops it slipping.

Vaccination and dewormingyour vet sets the plan

Vaccination and worming schedules differ by country, region and individual horse, so the plan comes from your vet. What a log adds is a single place to see what was given, by whom and when the next one is due.

Training loadduration times intensity

Combining how long a session lasted with how hard it was gives one number per ride, and adding them up shows whether this week was heavier than the last few. A sudden jump in load after a quiet spell is the kind of pattern that is easy to miss without a record.

Feeding plans and notessmall changes, written down

Recording the feed type, amount and schedule, plus notes on soaking times, supplements or a change of hay, means you can see what changed when a horse's condition or behaviour does. Feed changes are generally best made gradually, and a vet or nutritionist can advise on a ration.

How it works

How the logbook works

Everything starts from a horse, so a session or a care record always belongs to the right one.

  1. Add your horses and log a session

Create a profile for each horse and log a ride, schooling or care session in a few taps, with a type, duration and intensity. You can back-date an entry to the day it really happened and edit it later.

  2. Record the care dates

Add vet, farrier, vaccination and deworming records with the provider's name and your own notes, and set a next-due date. Reminders arrive a week before, the day before and on the day.

  3. Check the calendar and the load

The stable calendar shows every horse's upcoming and overdue dates in colour, and the training load chart shows whether a week was light or heavy for one horse or the whole yard.

What's inside

What is in the app

Log

Riding and training diary

Record training, rides and care sessions by type, duration and intensity, with disciplines including dressage, jumping, trail riding and eventing. Long-press an entry to edit or delete it.

Care

Horse health tracker

Keep vet, farrier, vaccination and deworming records for each horse with a next-due date. Reminders move when you edit a record and are cancelled when you delete it.

Load

Training load stats

A chart shows whether a week was light or heavy for one horse or the whole yard, along with month-over-month session counts and a week-over-week intensity read.

Feed

Feeding plans

Track feed type, amount and schedule, whether daily, twice daily or as needed, and add notes on soaking times, supplements or a change in hay.

Date

Stable calendar

One colour-coded calendar for every horse's upcoming and overdue farrier, vet, vaccine and deworming dates, so an overdue shoeing does not slip past.

Barn day

Several horses in one pass

After a busy morning at the yard, tick every horse you worked and save one entry for each in a single step.

AI

AI Horse Coach

A weekly training and care plan drawn from recent sessions and upcoming care dates, with alerts when a care date is close. It gives scheduling and conditioning ideas only, and never a diagnosis, medication or dosing advice.

Fit

Who it's for — and who it isn't

A good fit if you

  • Own or ride one or more horses and want rides, care dates and feed in one place
  • Lose track of when the farrier, vet or vaccinations are next due and want reminders
  • Keep your horse at a yard where there is often no signal and want a log that opens offline
  • Want to see whether this week's training was lighter or heavier than the weeks before
  • Want to share a horse's care history with a vet, a new yard or a buyer

Not the right tool if you

  • Use an iPhone — the app is only on Google Play
  • Need a vet to assess a horse; the app records and reminds, and never diagnoses
  • Want unlimited AI Horse Coach plans for free — the free version includes two a day
  • Manage a large commercial stable with staff accounts and invoicing rather than a personal logbook

Safety and limits

Records, not veterinary advice

Horse Riding Log & Horse Care keeps your own notes and reminders for dates you set yourself. It is not a vet or a farrier, and it never gives a diagnosis, medication or dosing advice. The AI Horse Coach offers scheduling and conditioning ideas only.

Call your vet about any health concern. Sudden or severe lameness, signs of colic such as repeated rolling or pawing, or a horse that stops eating are reasons to get professional help immediately rather than check an app.

Photo notes on coat, hoof and posture are general observations, not an assessment of a horse's condition.

Privacy

What stays on your phone

Your horses, sessions, health records and feeding plans are stored on your phone, so the logbook opens at the yard with no signal. When you ask the AI Horse Coach for a plan, the sessions and care dates it needs are sent to the developer's server and an AI service, and a photo note sends the photo you choose.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to keep a horse care log?

The best log is the one quick enough to fill in at the stable. Horse Riding Log & Horse Care lets you pick a horse and log a session in a few taps, then store vet, farrier, vaccination and deworming records with the provider's name and your notes. It keeps everything on your phone, so it opens at the yard even without signal.

Can the app remind me when the farrier or vet is due?

Yes. You set a next-due date on a care record and the app sends a local reminder a week before, the day before and on the day. If you edit the record the reminders move with it, and if you delete the record they are cancelled.

Does it work for more than one horse?

Yes. The free version has unlimited horses, sessions, health records and feeding plans. The stable calendar shows every horse's upcoming and overdue dates in colour, and you can filter the stats by horse when you keep several.

What does the AI Horse Coach do?

It builds a weekly training and care plan from a horse's recent sessions and upcoming care dates, and flags when a vet, farrier or vaccine date is close. It is limited to scheduling and conditioning ideas. It is not a vet or a farrier and never gives a diagnosis, medication or dosing advice.

Does the app give veterinary advice or diagnose problems?

No. Horse Riding Log & Horse Care records what you tell it and reminds you of dates you set. Anything about a horse's health, including lameness, colic or changes in appetite, should go to your vet or farrier, and photo notes are general observations rather than assessments.

Is Horse Riding Log & Horse Care free?

The core logbook is free, including unlimited horses and records, the stable calendar with reminders and a four-week training load view. The free version shows ads and includes two AI Horse Coach plans a day. Pro is an auto-renewing subscription that adds unlimited coach plans, multi-week conditioning programs, photo notes, longer load history and no ads.

Is it available on iPhone?

No. Horse Riding Log & Horse Care is an Android app, available on Google Play. The interface comes in 10 languages with a light, dark or system theme.
