A cat's behavior is information, not defiance.
When a cat scratches the sofa or skips the litter box, it is usually telling you something about its space, its routine or its health. The useful move is to write down when, where and what happened right before, because the pattern is invisible from one episode and obvious after two weeks of notes.
What it is
Cat Care: Cat Behavior Tracker is an Android app for cat owners who want to understand why their cat scratches furniture, avoids the litter box, hides, overgrooms or meows at night. You log behaviors with a tap and add a trigger and a note, review a breakdown and a 24-hour chart, follow guides, a litter box audit and a scratching solver, run a 14-day case with a measured verdict, and plan weekly enrichment. An AI coach suggests likely causes and always points to a vet when a pattern may be medical.
Inside the app
What it looks like

Background
Why does my cat scratch the sofa, skip the litter box or meow at night?
Most of these behaviors are normal cat behavior meeting an unsuitable setup: scratching keeps claws in condition and marks territory, litter box avoidance often follows a change in the box or in the household, and night meowing usually reflects hunger, boredom or the energy cats have at dawn and dusk. A sudden change in a long-standing habit, however, can be a sign of pain or illness and deserves a vet visit before any training plan.
Scratchinga need, not a misdeed
Cats scratch to shed claw sheaths, stretch and leave scent marks. The fix is rarely stopping it; it is offering a sturdy post in the right place, often near where the cat sleeps or by the furniture it already targets, and tracking whether the scratching moves to the post.
Litter box problemscheck the vet first
Avoiding the box can come from a medical problem, so a cat that suddenly stops using it should see a vet. If the cause is behavioral, common culprits are too few boxes, a box in a noisy spot, an unsuitable litter or infrequent scooping.
Dawn and dusk energywhy 4 a.m. happens
Cats are most active around dawn and dusk. Meowing and zooming at those hours is often normal rhythm, which is why a chart of when a behavior happens helps separate ordinary feline timing from a real problem.
Enrichment for indoor catsgive the hunt somewhere to go
A cat's play follows a hunting sequence of stalking, chasing, catching and eating. Wand toys, puzzle feeders and perches give indoor cats a place to run that sequence, which tends to ease boredom-driven scratching and restlessness.
How it works
How tracking works
The app turns daily cat-watching into a small habit: log, review, change one thing, then check the result.
Log a behavior in one tap
Tap a chip such as scratching, aggression or excessive meowing to record it instantly, or open the detailed entry to add a trigger like a visitor or moved furniture, a note and how intense it was.
See what shows up and when
A breakdown shows which behaviors are most frequent, and a 24-hour chart marks dawn and dusk. Household change markers such as a move or a new pet let you compare before and after.
Change one thing and check it
Follow the guide for the behavior, then open a 14-day case: freeze a baseline from your logs, follow an ordered protocol and answer a daily yes/no question to get a measured verdict.

Fit
Who it's for — and who it isn't
A good fit if you
- Have a cat that scratches furniture, avoids the litter box, hides or meows at odd hours
- Want evidence of when and why a behavior happens, not a guess
- Live with more than one cat and need each one's logs kept separate
- Want a vet or sitter sheet built from your own notes
- Keep an indoor cat and want a plan for play and enrichment
Not the right tool if you
- Need a diagnosis or treatment, since the app is a behavior and enrichment tool and not a veterinary service
- Expect an urgent answer when your cat shows signs of pain, injury or illness, which need a vet straight away
- Want unlimited AI coaching and multiple pets without upgrading
- Use an iPhone, because the app is available for Android
Safety and limits
When to call the vet
Cat Care is a behavior and enrichment tool. It does not diagnose, treat or cure anything, and the AI coach offers behavioral and welfare information only.
Contact a vet promptly if your cat shows signs of pain, injury or illness, or if a long-standing habit changes suddenly. Straining in the litter box, blood in urine, repeated trips with little result, refusing food, hiding more than usual, limping or sudden aggression are reasons to see a vet before trying any behavior plan.
Litter box avoidance in particular can have a medical cause, so rule that out first. Use the app to write down what you see and take the vet sheet with you.
Privacy
Where your cat's data lives
Profiles and logs stay on your phone unless you tap Sync to keep them across devices. The AI features send only what they need: your cat's name, age, environment, energy level, behavior types and counts and the trigger you picked. Free-text notes are not sent.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
How do I track my cat's behavior?
Write down each episode as it happens, with the time and what came just before it. Cat Care: Cat Behavior Tracker makes that a one-tap habit, then shows a breakdown of which behaviors occur most and a 24-hour chart of when. After a week or two the pattern is usually clear enough to act on or to show a vet.
Why does my cat scratch the sofa?
Cats scratch to maintain their claws, stretch and leave scent marks, so the behavior itself is normal. The problem is usually where they do it. Offering a sturdy post close to the sofa and tracking whether the scratching moves is what the app's scratching solver and three-week tracker are built to do.
Why is my cat peeing or pooping outside the litter box?
First rule out a medical cause with a vet, especially if it started suddenly. If the cause is behavioral, the usual culprits are too few boxes, a bad location, the wrong litter or irregular scooping. Cat Care's litter box audit checks box count, type, substrate, location and scooping and suggests a fix for each finding.
Can an app tell me why my cat does something?
It can narrow the possibilities. Cat Care: Cat Behavior Tracker links your logs, triggers and timing to a likely behavioral cause and an enrichment suggestion through its AI coach. It cannot examine your cat, so it stops and recommends a vet whenever a pattern could have a medical side.
Why does my cat meow at night?
Cats are naturally most active around dawn and dusk, and night meowing is often hunger, boredom or leftover energy. Logging the time and the trigger, for example an empty bowl, shows whether it is routine or something new. A sudden change in a senior cat's night noise is worth mentioning to a vet.
Is Cat Care free?
The app is free to start on Google Play and includes one pet profile, unlimited logs, the breakdown, the 24-hour chart, every guide, the litter box audit, the scratching solver and a single open case, with a few AI consults a month. Pro adds multiple pets, pattern insights, the AI weekly plan and unlimited consults, and removes ads. It is a monthly or annual subscription.
Does it work for more than one cat?
Yes. Pro supports multiple pets and a household view that shows who targets whom, plus a litter box and feeding station check. Each cat's logs, plans and insights stay separate, so you can tell one cat's pattern from another's.
What is a 14-day case?
A case is a short experiment on one problem. You choose the problem, freeze a baseline from your own logs, follow an ordered protocol and answer a daily yes or no question. At the end you get a verdict of improved, no clear change or worse, based on your own numbers.
Can I share the logs with my vet or a cat sitter?
Yes. The app turns your logs into a plain-text vet sheet with 30- and 90-day counts, the time-of-day pattern, triggers, household changes and what you already tried, or a sitter sheet with known triggers, litter setup and this week's routine.
What platforms does it run on?
Cat Care: Cat Behavior Tracker is available on Android through Google Play, in 10 languages. It is a behavior and enrichment app and does not replace veterinary care.
