Every run is a row of numbers, and the holes are the point.
A series becomes a tappable grid: filled where you own the book, open where you do not. Tap a missing number to add it in seconds, and the same grid tells you whether you are one issue from finishing a run or a block of eight short in the middle of it.
What it is
Comic Collection Tracker is a free Android comic book organizer that records every title you collect and which back issues you own or still want. Each run appears as a gap map of issue numbers, each book can carry a variant, condition, purchase price and your own value estimate, and a wishlist keeps a running budget. Covers can be scanned, Shop Mode answers whether you own a book without a connection, and an AI advisor suggests which missing issue to chase next. It has no price guide and never appraises a book.
Inside the app
What it looks like

Background
How do you keep track of a comic collection and find the back issues you are missing?
Collectors who build runs, whether of a long flagship title or a small-press mini, tend to lose track in two places: which numbers they own, and where each book is stored. A list that records the title, publisher and issue number of every book, with a view that makes the gaps obvious, turns a visit to a shop or a convention into a quick lookup instead of a guess. Duplicates are the other common problem, and they are cheaper to prevent with a list in your pocket than to resell later.
Run and volumerelaunches start again at #1
A run is the sequence of issues in one series. When a publisher relaunches a title it restarts at #1 as a new volume, so the app gives each relaunch its own run and puts annuals, #0 issues and one-shots on a separate Specials shelf.
Variant and conditionwhat differs between two copies
Two copies of the same issue number can differ by cover variant and by condition. Each book in the app can carry both, alongside the price you paid and your own estimated value range, so the stats reflect the numbers you entered.
Pull listnew releases your shop sets aside
A pull list is the set of titles a comic shop holds for you each week. In the app you bookmark a title, pick the weekday your shop gets new comics and log what arrived that week, with optional reminders only if you switch them on.
Long boxwhere each copy lives
Most collections live in long boxes, bins and shelves. The locator records which one holds each copy, and Shop Mode shows where a book is stored when you search for it.
How it works
How you build the list
You can start with one series and add the rest as you pull books out of boxes.
Add a title and its books
Title and publisher are free text, so a small-press mini or an indie one-shot works exactly like a flagship run. Log the issue number, variant, condition, price paid and your estimate, and mark each book Owned or Wanted.
Scan covers instead of typing
Snap a cover and the scanner fills in the issue number with a title guess. Batch scan reads a whole stack of covers from one photo, and you review every guess before anything is added.
Hunt with the list in your pocket
At the shop, type a title and number in Shop Mode to see whether you own it, want it or never tracked it. Share a hunt sheet or your duplicates with a dealer or friend, and let Hunt Plan order your wishlist against a budget.
What's inside
What is in the app
Gap map
Every missing issue at a glance
Each run is a grid of issue numbers, filled for books you own and open for the ones you do not. Tap a missing number to add it, or an owned one to view it.
Scan
Cover scan and batch scan
Photograph one cover, or a stack, and review the guesses before they are added. The free plan lets you try one cover scan and one batch scan, and Pro removes the limit.
Offline
Shop Mode
Type a title and number and the app tells you whether it is owned, wanted or untracked, and where it is stored. It reads the collection on your phone, so it works without a connection.
Budget
A wishlist that is also a shopping list
Wanted issues carry the price you expect to pay and add up to a running budget, and one tap turns a wanted book into an owned one when you find it.
Pull list
Weekly pull list and reminders
Bookmark the titles your shop holds, choose its new-comics day and log what landed. Optional reminders mention the run you are closest to finishing, and nothing is scheduled unless you turn it on.
AI
AI advisor
It reads a run's gap map back to you and suggests which missing issue to chase next. It never quotes prices and never appraises a book. The free plan includes 3 advisor questions a month.
Share
Run cards and hunt sheets
Turn any run into an image showing how much of it you own, or share a hunt sheet or your trade stock of duplicates with a dealer or a friend.
Fit
Who it's for — and who it isn't
A good fit if you
- Collect runs of series and keep losing track of which numbers you already own
- Come home from conventions with duplicates and want to stop buying them
- Keep books across several long boxes and want to know where a copy lives
- Buy from small presses and indie one-shots that no catalogue lists
- Want a wishlist with a running budget you can open at the shop
Not the right tool if you
- Want market values, grading or a price guide, which the app deliberately does not provide
- Expect a built-in catalogue or cover art database; you type your own series
- Want a collection that syncs live between devices without Pro cloud backup
- Are looking for an iPhone app, since this page covers the Android version
Privacy
Where your collection lives
Your collection is stored on your phone. No account is needed: you start as a guest, and signing in is optional. The AI features ask your permission first and then send only what they need through the app's server to an AI service: the photo you chose for a scan, the title, publisher, issue numbers and notes of one run for the advisor, and your wanted issues with their value ranges for Hunt Plan. Cloud backup, a Pro feature, uploads a copy only when you tap Back up now.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the best way to organize a comic book collection?
Record each book by title, publisher and issue number, then use a view that shows what is missing rather than a flat list. Comic Collection Tracker turns each run into a gap map, adds a long-box locator so you know where every copy is stored, and keeps a wishlist with a budget. It is a free Android app that works without an account.
How do I find which back issues I am missing?
Open a series in Comic Collection Tracker and look at its gap map: owned issues are filled and missing numbers are open, so a block of absent issues stands out immediately. Tapping a missing number adds it, and the AI advisor can suggest which gap to close first based on your own records.
Can I scan comic covers to add them?
Yes. Snap a cover and Comic Collection Tracker fills in the issue number with a guess at the title, and batch scan reads a whole stack of covers from one photo. You review every guess before anything is added, so a misread number never goes into the collection unnoticed.
Does the app tell me what my comics are worth?
No. Comic Collection Tracker offers no market values or price guide and does not appraise books, and its AI advisor never quotes prices. The values you see in the stats come from the purchase prices and estimated value ranges you entered yourself.
Can I check my collection at the comic shop without signal?
Yes. Shop Mode reads the collection stored on your phone, so typing a title and issue number tells you straight away whether you own it, want it or never tracked it, with no connection needed. If the book is in your collection, it also shows which box, bin or shelf holds it.
How does it handle annuals, relaunches and one-shots?
Comic Collection Tracker gives each relaunch its own volume, so a series that restarts at #1 does not clash with the original run. Annuals, #0 issues and one-shots go on a Specials shelf, and title and publisher are free text, so small-press and indie books fit as easily as major runs.
Is Comic Collection Tracker free?
The app is free to download. The free plan covers unlimited titles and books, the full gap map, wishlist, stats, Shop Mode, long-box locator, pull list and reminders, plus a few AI advisor questions a month, a trial cover scan and batch scan and one Hunt Plan a month. Pro removes the AI limits and the ads, and adds CSV export and cloud backup.
Can I export or back up my collection?
Yes, with Pro. Comic Collection Tracker can export everything you track as a CSV file and back up and restore the collection to the cloud. Backup uploads a copy only when you tap Back up now, and otherwise the collection stays on your phone.
Does the app include a comic database or cover art?
No. Comic Collection Tracker is independent: there is no licensed catalogue and no cover art database, so you type your own series, and the app is not affiliated with any comic publisher. That keeps it flexible for obscure titles that no database would list.
Is there an iPhone version of Comic Collection Tracker?
Not at the moment. Comic Collection Tracker is currently available only on Android through Google Play, so this page links to the Google Play listing. The Android version works without an account and keeps your collection on your phone.
Who is Comic Collection Tracker for?
It is for collectors who build runs of a series and want to know which numbers are missing, including people who buy small-press or indie books that no catalogue lists. It also suits anyone who keeps comics across several long boxes, shops with a pull list or comes home from conventions with duplicates.
Which platforms and languages does it support?
Comic Collection Tracker is available on Android through Google Play, in 10 languages (English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish and Chinese), with a light, dark or system theme.
