Walk and Turn
Welcome back, artist! 🐢🎨 Today our turtle learns to walk and turn.
With these two moves, we can draw almost anything!
Forward Walks Ahead
The command t.forward(100) makes the turtle walk forward 100 steps. 🚶
Bigger number = longer line!
Drawing a Line
Let us draw one long line. Watch the turtle go! ➖
import turtle
t = turtle.Turtle()
t.forward(150)
turtle.done()Turning Right
To change direction, we turn! t.right(90) turns the turtle to the right by 90 degrees. ↩️
90 degrees is a perfect corner, like the corner of a book. 📕
A Line and a Turn
Let us walk, turn, then walk again. We make a corner! 📐
import turtle
t = turtle.Turtle()
t.forward(100)
t.right(90)
t.forward(100)
turtle.done()We Made an L!
Look! 🎉 The turtle drew a shape like the letter L.
Walk, turn, walk. Easy peasy! 🍋
Turning Left Too
There is also t.left(90) to turn the other way. ↪️
Right and left let the turtle go anywhere!
Degrees Tell How Far to Turn
The number is degrees. 🧭
90= a sharp corner180= turn all the way around45= a small turn
Zigzag Fun
Mix lefts and rights to make a zigzag! ⚡
import turtle
t = turtle.Turtle()
t.forward(60)
t.left(60)
t.forward(60)
t.right(60)
t.forward(60)
turtle.done()You Control the Turtle
