Time to meet the building blocks behind every automation: how a process starts and what happens next. These pieces power any no-code workflow.

Every automation has three parts: a trigger that starts it, actions that do the work, and a workflow tying them in sequence.

A trigger is the event that starts your automation, the “if” in “if this, then that”: a new email, a new spreadsheet row, or a specific time of day.

Triggers come in a few flavors: new data, updated data, a scheduled time, or a webhook event that instantly notifies one app from another.

An action is the task your automation performs after the trigger, the “then that” part: send an email, create a task, or add a row to a sheet.

The magic is when a trigger feeds an action: data passes along the chain. A “new email” trigger hands the sender to an “add contact” action.

A workflow is the full sequence from trigger to one or more actions: the whole path from “something happened” to “here is what we did.” Simple or complex.

A classic two-step workflow: trigger on a new “New Lead” email, then action creates a follow-up task in your project tool. Small, but it saves real effort.

Combining triggers and actions into workflows unlocks efficiency, accuracy, and saved time, letting you focus on the creative work that matters.
