The 3-Second Rule

On social media feeds, users scroll past content in a fraction of a second. Your ad has approximately three seconds to stop that scroll before the moment is gone forever. This means the opening frame of a video or the dominant visual in an image must immediately communicate something surprising, relevant, or emotionally resonant.

Video vs Image Creative Trends

Video ads consistently generate higher engagement rates and longer dwell times than static images on social platforms. However, high-performing static images with bold design and clear copy can outperform mediocre videos — production quality matters less than creative relevance and message clarity.
