Listeners collect and display your test results — response times, throughput, errors. Without one, the test runs but you see nothing.

Add a Listener via right-click > Add > Listener. Attach it at Test Plan level to capture every request, or on one Sampler for just that request.

The View Results Tree shows full detail for each request — headers, body, status, and response time. It's your go-to for debugging scripts.

Click any sample in the Results Tree to inspect it on the right — verify the request was sent right and the response held what you expected.

The Summary Report gives aggregate stats per request — a quick high-level read on throughput, error rate, and response times across the whole test.

Key Summary metrics: Average response time, Min/Max, Error % (failed requests), and Throughput (requests per second). High errors or slow averages flag trouble.

The Aggregate Report is like Summary but adds percentiles — e.g. a 90% line of 500ms means 90% of requests finished within 500ms.

Percentiles beat averages for real user experience: a 90th line covers most users, but a high 99th line means a few users hit serious delays.

Save results for later analysis: set a Filename (a .jtl or .csv) in any Listener, then run. JMeter writes every sample to that file.

Quick gut-check: match each Listener to the job it does best.
