Understanding Your Project
A Supabase project is an isolated backend: its own Postgres database, auth, storage, and Edge Functions. Each project stays separate and secure.
Getting Started on Supabase.com
First you need an account at supabase.com. Sign up with GitHub or email, log in, and you land on your personal dashboard.
Initiating Your New Project
On your dashboard, hit New Project to open the setup wizard. It is the gateway to a fresh backend, and the flow is refreshingly simple.
Naming Your Project & Setting Passwords
Give your project a clear name, then set a strong Database Password. That password unlocks direct database access, so save it somewhere safe.
Choosing Region & Organization
Pick a Region closest to your users to cut latency, then choose the organization the project belongs to (your personal one for solo projects).
Building Your Backend
Hit Create new project and Supabase provisions everything for you: the Postgres database, auth, and storage. It usually takes a couple of minutes.
Welcome to Your Project Dashboard!
When provisioning finishes, you land on your project dashboard — your control center. The left sidebar holds database, auth, storage, and more.
Quick Look at Project Settings
Open Project Settings (bottom of the sidebar) to rename the project or grab your API URL and keys — the keys your app uses to connect securely.
