A whole number has no dot. Like 1, 2, 3, or 100.
Coders call these integers. They are nice and round! 🟢

We use whole numbers to count things you cannot split, like apples or dogs!
You cannot have half a dog, right? 🐶

A decimal number has a dot! Like 2.5 or 3.14.
Coders call these floats. The dot shows a part! 🎯

The dot in 2.5 means "2 and a half"!
Decimals help us show parts of things. Like half a pizza! 🍕
