One Directory for Charts
Artifact Hub is a free web directory that indexes Helm charts from thousands of public repositories in a single searchable place.
Why It Helps
Instead of guessing repo URLs, you browse artifacthub.io, search for software, and discover charts you never knew existed across the community.
Searching from the CLI
You can query Artifact Hub without a browser using helm search hub, which hits the central index over the internet.
helm search hub wordpressHub vs Repo Again
Remember the split: search hub reaches the public internet directory, while search repo only looks at repos you have added locally.
The URL in Results
Hub results include an Artifact Hub URL for each chart. Open it to read the chart's docs, values, and which repo to add.
Add Then Install
Finding a chart on the Hub does not install it. You still helm repo add its source repo, then install by its name as usual.
Vetting a Chart
Each listing shows signals to judge quality: a verified publisher badge, an official mark, star counts, and the last-updated date.
Read the Security Report
Many charts display a security scan of their container images. Check it to spot known vulnerabilities before trusting a chart in production.
Browse the Values
A chart's Hub page often renders its full values.yaml with defaults and comments, so you can preview every option before installing.
More Than Charts
Artifact Hub also lists operators, plugins, and other Kubernetes artifacts, but for our purposes its Helm chart catalog is the star.
Trust, but Verify
Anyone can publish to the Hub, so popularity is not safety. Favor verified or official publishers and review the chart before deploying it.
Quick Check
A teammate asks where to discover community Helm charts across many repos. What do you point them to?
Recap
Artifact Hub is the public directory of charts, searchable via helm search hub. Use its badges and scans to vet a chart, then add its repo to install. 🌐
