The Five Pillars Explained
Deep-dive into the reliability, security, cost optimisation, operational excellence, and performance efficiency pillars and their guiding principles.
Introducing the Well-Architected Framework
The Azure Well-Architected Framework (WAF) is a set of guiding principles that help architects build high-quality cloud solutions. It was developed by Microsoft and is based on years of experience helping customers design and operate workloads on Azure. The framework organises best practices into five pillars, each addressing a different dimension of workload quality.
Pillar One: Reliability
The Reliability pillar ensures your workload can recover from failures and continue to function. It covers designing for failure, implementing redundancy, and testing recovery procedures. Key practices include using availability zones, defining clear RTO and RPO targets, and implementing health monitoring so issues are detected and resolved quickly.
