Availability Zones

Learn how availability zones protect workloads from data-centre failures by distributing resources across physically separate locations within a region.

The Problem Availability Zones Solve

Even inside one region, a single data centre failure — power, fire, flood — can take down your app. That single point of failure is what availability zones fix.

What Is an Availability Zone?

An availability zone is a separate data centre in a region with its own power, cooling, and network. Zones sit kilometres apart, and most supporting regions have three.
